Google Ads Reporting Gets an AI Upgrade
  • Google Ads is rolling out AI-powered Dashboards that allow advertisers to use natural-language prompts to create visual reports from campaign data instead of manually selecting metrics and chart types.
  • AI Dashboards can provide real-time performance summaries, helping advertisers understand campaign changes, identify potential factors behind them, and spend less time building reports manually.

Google Ads has started showing its new AI-powered Dashboards in some advertiser accounts. The feature lets advertisers use simple text prompts to create visual reports from their campaign data.

Instead of manually selecting metrics, dimensions and chart types, advertisers can describe what they want to analyze. Google then uses AI to create a dashboard based on that request.

The rollout follows Google's announcement of AI Dashboards in August. The feature is designed to make campaign reporting faster and easier for advertisers.

AI Dashboards Turn Prompts Into Reports

Google Ads users can use natural-language prompts to investigate campaign performance. For example, an advertiser can ask the dashboard to show how campaign results changed over a specific period.

The AI then creates visualizations using the relevant account data. This can reduce the need to build reports manually when investigating changes in performance.

The dashboards also include a real-time AI summary. This summary can explain what changed in the account and provide context around the factors that may be driving the change.

This means advertisers can use the dashboard for more than viewing charts. They can also get an AI-generated explanation of the performance data.

Google Continues Adding AI to Google Ads

AI Dashboards are part of Google's wider effort to bring AI into campaign management and reporting.

Google has also added AI-powered insights to the Google Ads homepage and introduced Ask Advisor, an AI tool that lets advertisers ask questions about their accounts.

These features move Google Ads toward a workflow where advertisers can describe what they want to know instead of manually searching through different reports and settings.

AI Dashboards are currently appearing in some advertiser accounts as the rollout continues. The feature was first spotted by paid search expert Thomas Eccel, who shared the update on LinkedIn.

For advertisers, the main benefit is less time spent building reports and more time spent understanding campaign performance and deciding what to do next.
